CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME REPORT 2018-19

"IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG STUDENTS" INTRODUCTION Conscientization is defined as the action or process of making others aware of political and social conditions, especially as a precursor to challanging inequalities of the treatment or opportunity, the fact of being aware of these conditions. Critical consciousness or conscientization is a popular education and social concept developed by Paulo Freire. It focuses on acheiving an in-depth understanding of the world, allowing for the perception and exposure of the social and political contradictions. It also includes taking action against the oppressive elements in one's life that are illuminated by that understanding. As a part of Restructured Curriculum this programme has been carried out at the time of school internship programme. The main aim of this programme is that to give awareness about "THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG THE STUDENTS ". This topic is of much importance on present situation among the teenagers. NEED & SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROGRAMME As part of the revised curriculum of B.Ed 2018-19,teacher trainees have to undertake a Conscientization Programme for the partial fulfillment of securing B.Ed Degree.It is an individual work and thus I have conducted the awareness programme on the topic "The Impact of Media among the Students ". OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME # To provide information about the impact of media among students. #To make awareness about the impact of media. #To make awareness about the use of media. # To instruct the students how to use the media. #To check the attitude of students towards media. # To make awareness about positive and negative effects of media. ORGANIZATION OF ACTIVITIES It became a fact that it should be a good chance to give valuable information to the students based on their life. So I have chosen the topic "The impact of media among the students"for the Conscientization Programme. As planned, I have conducted the programme on 23rd January, 2019 at GVHSS Vellanad. I selected 8th standard students for the programme. Then, with the help of presentation I vividly gave the information about the adverse effect of media among the students. It was an interactive section.

I asked some questions related to the topic and they answered well. They have also asked their doubts to me. I could clarify them properly. After showing the video related to the topic, I have given them a chance construct Posters.

POSTER CONSTRUCTION

Within 30minutes they have prepared the posters on the topic. I have also given a token of love to the best poster.

CONCLUSION As part of B. Ed curriculum the the teacher trainees have to undertake a Conscientization programme. I have conducted the programme at GVHSS Vellanad among 8th standard students on the topic IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG THE STUDENTS . I thought the programme gave a good impact among the students. It vividly awared the students about the impact of media. The end product of the programme was Poster construction and its a great success. VIDEO ON THE CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME BASED ON THE TOPIC- " IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG THE STUDENTS ".

DAY : 35- 28/01/2019

Today was the last day of teaching practice. It was really a nice experience comprised days of teaching practice at Govt Vhss Vellanad.Today we were in somewhat busy range because we have to get signature and designation from School Principal and concern teacher. Then we have got a memorable sent off from School Authorities. That was a moment of happiness.Principal and most of the teachers have given a sweet felicitation speech for us.From their words it was clear that we have done a good job in the school. We are so and so happy that all of them loved and cared us so much.We have also given them a small token of love. We were so overwhelmed. We have also distributed sweets to the classes that we teach.It was sad moment to bid farewell to the students. By wishing them all success,we get out the class. Serving of lunch takes place at afternoon. Our junior trainees have come to school for their Induction practice. At 4 pm bidding farewell to each and every students and teachers we left the school with a heavy heart.Thus today also went well.

DAY : 34 - 25/01/2019

Today was a good day. Today classes started at 9:30 am. Today,the remaining teacher trainees have done the Conscientization Programme. One of their topics was "Disaster Management ",then another one was "Conservation of Forest"and "Leprosy". They have also used ICT for an assistance. They have clearly given the awareness about each topic to the students. Students also eagerly looked upon the topics. Posters, Models, Plucards were the end product.

Two of them have done the programme in my class, so I couldn't get the period to teach. But I have already finished the portion. So I was not tensed. I have spent the time observing and helping my collegues to do the Conscientization Programme.Today also went well with a thoughg that,there remains only one day for the end.

DAY : 33 - 24/01/2019

Today classes started as usual. My period was on the 5th period. I have taken the rest of the portions there. As it is a lengthy portion, I needed one more day to complete it. We only had two more days in the school. By keeping this in mind,the students maintain a decorum all over the period. Difficult words are being discussed. After the class,I went to one of my collegues Saranya's class to observe her Conscientization Programme. After that there was Karthika's also. They have also used ICT as an assistance. One of their topic is " Noise Pollution" and another one is "Online game Addiction". The two of them gave a good awareness among the students. The programme was very informative and interesting. Their end product was also Poster Making.

DAY : 32 - 23/01/2019

Today was a freezy cold day. My class was on the 2nd period. I have planned to conduct the Conscientization Programme in that period. But due some exams,I couldnt conduct that. Thus I planned for the afternoon section. At 2:30 pm I have started the programme with tge help of ICT. Students were very co-operative and my collegues also helped me for that. I have shown some pictures and videos. My topic was "Impact of social media among the students". After that I have given poster making competition. Students are divided into 4 groups and did the construction. At ladt they have done that and constructed 4 beautiful and innovative posters. Then I have given a token of gift to the best poster. Thus the day went well.

DAY : 31 - 22/01/2019

Today began with a beautiful prayer and pledge. My class was on the fourth period. I have taken the remaining portions in the chapter " The Merchant of Venice". As part of extra reading,I have told them in the last class to prepare a short biography on the writer, William Shakespeare. After expalining the content, I have made them to read. Students have neatly prepared the biography. Students have neatly prepared the biography. Students also vividly replied to the textual questions. Some of the students have correctly read the portions with correct pronunciation and stress. Serving of the lunch takes place at after noon. Then I have gone to the computer lab as the 10th standard students had pre-model IT examination. There was snacks at evening. Today also thus ends very well.

DAY : 30 - 21/01/2019

Today classes started at the usual timings. My class fell on the 6th period. At the class I have started a new chapter "Merchant of Venice" by the worl eminent writer William Shakespeare. I have shown a video which contains a short biography of the writer. Students were so eager to see the biography. The class was not under my lesson plan. This chapter was the additional portion I got. I have given a good introduction and then explained the content. As the story is very interesting the students were so eager to hear the story. Rest of the time I spent by writing some works and serving of lunch takes place at the afternoon. Thus today also went well as an usual day.

DAY : 29 - 18/01/2019

Today classes started at 9:30 am. My class was on afternoon session. At morning,we have done the works that are to be presented before the commission. My class was on the 6th period. The students were very impulsive,I jave somehow managed the class. I have taken the rest of the lines in the poem " My Grandmother's House" by Kamala Das. I have given the critical appreciation of tge poem as I have completed the poem. The students were not that much attentive. Then, I have gone to the Peer Evaluation of one of my collegues, Divya Das,Biology subject. She has taken the topic Reproduction. She has used ICT to illustrate the topic. As it was an interesting topic the students were very attentive. She has also presented a chart on the topic. It was quite a good class. Over all it was a good day.

DAY : 28 17/01/2019

Today started as usual with a beautiful prayer and pledge. Actually my class according to the lesson plan was on afternoon 5th period. Surprisingly,our General Teacher, Lalithambika Teacher came for observation. So I have adjusted the class into third period. Fortunately,I have to take a new chapter "MY GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE" by KAMALA SURAYYA and I had the learning aids for that. It was ICT Based Lesson Plan and everything was constructed into slides. I have given a nostalgic mood to the class as the poem is related to nostalgia. I have shown the pictures of the poet and gave a deep introduction about her as I am her great fan. Teacher was there in my class at the beginning itself. I could take the class as I have planned and it was really a good and satisfactory class for me. After some time she left the class and given a good feedback about my class. I am pretty much happy for that. Over all it was a good day.

DAY 27 : 16/01/2019

Today started with a beautiful prayer. My class according to the lesson plan was on 2md period. I have taken the remaining activities there. I have taken class about Present Continuous Tense, Word Pyramid and a Word game too. As the portion was relaated to grammar,students curiously attended the class. The class was active and impulsive. I could dictate the formula of tenses thoroughly and I think it reached the stidents well. Thus, I have completed the chapter fully. Rest of the time we spent on writing the works related to Commission. It was really a worky day,with lots of work,work and work. Serving of lunch takes place at afternoon. National Anthem was there at last. Today ends very well.

DAY - 26 14/01/2019

Today there was assembly at the school. Principal has announced and distributed the certificates and prizes to the students who got selected and success in the State Youth Festivals. The assembly has prolonged to one hour. She also warned the students about the upcoming exxaminations. I had my period at the 6th one. I have taken the activities in the class. One was profile writing of 6 prominent persons,then about the charactersketch and the tenses. Pupil has actively responded to the activities. As the activities are realting to the grammar section. It was really a serious class. There was sataff meeting at afternoon. We have to look upon the students for two hours. It was a herculiean task but was very interesting. After the National anthem the school dispersed.

DAY 25 - 11/01/2019

As today is friday,the classes started at 9:30 am.Due to the shortage of usual teachers, we have gone to the free classes. The class according to the lesson plan stands in 6th period. As my portion has completed, I have taken the activities in the text book. First activity was based on the matching physical appearence with their consecutive describing words. One question was done by me for them and they have done the remaining . The next activity was drafting a Notice. I have clearly described about the format of notice. I have displayed some notices too. Then,I have written a notice for them. When the bell rang, I have given them a homework of drafting a notice. There was a little noisy but some how I could manage the class. Today also went well.

DAY : 24 - 10/01/2019

Today also started with a beautiful prayer.As the teachers who are in charge of the classes and some students of 8th, 9th and 10th have gone to excursion, we have been given duty from the first period onwards to look upon the classes that have no teachers.My concern class with lesson plan was on the 5th period. I have taken the remaining portions of the chapter.As I got two consecutive periods I could complete the chapter.The students were very active and attentive. They correctly responded to the scaffolding questions too.They have also done the activities and presented them.After that, I have givan their answer papers on Christmas Exam.Many of them got good marks while some of them were very poor.Serving of lunch takes place at afternoon. Today also went well.

DAY 23 : 07/01/2019

Today,as usual, the school starts with a beautiful prayer.My period was on the 6th in 8B.I have started a new chapter, "The School for Sympathy" by E.V.Lucas. As part of entry activity, I asked the students to share their experiences about the specialities of any other school they have visited. Students responded very accurately. After a short introduction about the author, I explained the content in brief.I have given the loud reading to three students. They have also answered the scaffolding questions. They have also done the activities well.They were active too.Today also went well.

DAY -22 04/01/2019

As today is Friday hoping the classes starts at 9:30am.As the remaining exams of Christmas Examination is on this day we didnt get any classes today. Upto afternoon I got a chance to sit and relax. And at afternoon session we got exam duty. The free time we have spent by writing the remaining works we had. Sitting in the staffroom is really a novel and good experience. Many things are got from the conversation of the teachers about the students behaviour, how teachers should act, etc... So we are very thankful to the school for granting us a place n the staffroom itself.

DAY 21- 01/01/2019

After a short break we have again admitted into the school for the remaining teaching practice. Today school started at the normal time period.I had 4th period according to my lesson plan.I have got next fresh unit in the syllabus. I have described about the new unit "Share and Care". I have shared the ideas about the basic values we needed in our life.As part of entry activity I asked about the current situations in the school.I have described about the author "E. V.Lucas". I have just begun the chapter "School for Sympathy". Students were very eagerly listened the portions. Today also went well.

DAY 20 : 10/12/2018

Today is the last day at school as from tomorrow onwards Christmas exam as starting.Thus we are leaving the school today and rejoin after the exam ends.As tomorrow is exam, school has closed at noon after serving the lunch.Bidding farewell to all students and teachers we leave the school.From tomorrow onwards back to college and that premises.Today also ends in a good manner.

DAY 19: 07/12/2018

Today,classes began at 9:30 am as it is Friday.I got two periods as per my lesson plan.I have taken the rest of the portions in that chapter and I could complete the chapter too.Students were very curious to look upon the new portions.They were very impulsive to hear the rest of the story.They have done the activities very actively.Students responded to the scaffolding questions in a proper manner.I am satisfied with the class I have taken.I have checked their notes in the free period.Rest of the time,we have gone to help the students in malayalathilakkom class.New batch of students were enrolled. Students have a good mind to learn more. Thus,today also went well.

DAY 18 : 06/12/2018

Today was also an usual day that starts with prayer and pledge.Today I have taken the remaining portions.I have given the entry activity and the students eagerly responded to that.Discourse was given to them and they presented their products in a pleasing manner. Today also went well with serving lunch etc.There was nothing more in today.
